Destination Salem- Project Assistant Part Time, 20 hours per week

Salary:$15.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Description: This is a support position that will best fit a self-starter who wants to be involved in the destination marketing of Salem.

·                         Support development and implementation of promotions including, but not limited to: Salem Haunted Happenings, Arts & Antiques month, incentive programs;

·                         Data analysis (non-scientific) of information collected from visitors and potential visitors; Fulfill visitor requests submitted via telephone and email;

·                         Fulfill individual and bulk requests for visitor guides;

·                         Work with group tour operators and educators who are developing packages and programs for their clients;

·                         Update Salem.org and HauntedHappenings.org as needed;

·                         Administrative responsibilities including, but not limited to: telephones, mail, filing;

Qualifications:

·                         B.A. in tourism, marketing, or a related field;

·                         Interest in destination marketing;

·                         Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook;

·                         Strong written and verbal skills;

·                         Customer service skills, including a pleasant phone disposition;

·                         Ability to climb stairs, lift boxes, and operate a hand truck;

·                         Valid drivers license and access to a vehicle.

Best Western Merrimack Valley - Sales Manager

The award winning Best Western Merrimack Valley Hotel in Haverhill, Massachusetts is seeking a qualified hotel sales manager. 
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain consistent verbal and written communication with clients.
  • Thorough knowledge of geographical area and business development.
  • Highly effective communication skills to negotiate, coordinate, and develop positive rapports with both internal and external customers.
  • Aggressively pursue new accounts on a weekly basis.
  • Consistently make cold calls.
  • Sell hotel rooms through direct client contact for the purpose of maximizing revenue.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing accounts.
  • Participate in local community to develop business.
  • Participate in sales blitzes.
  • Excellent phone skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for the GM

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years hotel sales experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance.
  • May be required to assist evenings or weekends.
  • Must be a team player and posses an I-Can attitude – see it, own it, resolve it.

Description Clean and maintain all areas on guest rooms, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness.

Job Type Full-time

Responsibilities and Duties Uses correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.

Requirements for Position Previous experience in cleaning public buildings. Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision. Ability to exert physical effort in transporting linen and supplies to guest rooms from Housekeeping and using floor equipment.

Description Clean and maintain all corridors, vending areas, elevators and landings and service areas on guest room floors, ensuring hotel's standards of cleanliness. Provide linen supplies for room attendants and stock floor closets. Deliver and retrieve items requested by guests and front desk.

Job Type Full-time

Responsibilities and Duties Cooperates with Executive Housekeeper and Supervisors and completes any requests from them as soon as possible. Observes all house and safety rules, housekeeping procedures, and security procedures. Maintains standards of quality and cleanliness throughout daily assignments.

Requirements for Position Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
